Several years after the end of Risen, titans have caused immense destruction and pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. As a result, monstrous creatures have emerged from the sea and disrupted all seafaring activities. The world is now in a desperate state and it's up to the player to help save it from the dark waters.

Risen 2: Dark Waters is an action-packed role-playing game set in a dark and gritty universe. Developed by Piranha Bytes and published by THQ Nordic, it is the sequel to the original Risen and takes place several years after the conclusion of the first game. In this world, titans have ravaged the world and pushed humanity to the brink of existence. Out of the depths of the sea, monstrous creatures have risen and brought the seafaring to a standstill. It is up to the hero, now a member of the Inquisition, to find a way to stop the chaos caused by these creatures.

The game follows a pirate-based theme and offers players a wide range of themed island locales to explore. It combines classic RPG gameplay mechanics from the original Risen with a new setting, allowing players to shape the game world based on their decisions.
