In The Store is Closed, a cooperative survival game, you are trapped in an infinite furniture store with no escape in sight. Players must craft weapons, build fortifications, and explore the underground SCP laboratories in order to survive the night and find a way out of the store.

Players can use furniture found in the store to craft weapons or build fortifications. They must also be on the lookout for the Managers, powerful entities that will stop at nothing to remove the players from the store. The staff also patrol the show floor and will become hostile if they spot players destroying furniture. The Kids department is home to the dangerous Biters, so be sure to watch out for them as well.

In order to survive, players must find food, build bases, and craft weapons. A flamethrower can clear out furniture, but be wary of the fire spreading. Chainsaws are powerful but loud, while the sledgehammer can be used to create an escape route. Players can also craft new weapons from objects found in the store and build more elaborate bases as time goes on.

Exploration is also important in The Store is Closed, as strange departments float above the show floor, and pocket dimensions can be found as well. The SCP Foundation, an organization studying the store, has underground laboratories that contain more advanced weapons, crafting materials, and information about the store. To enter them, players must find an SCP keycard. The laboratories are filled with security, and the SCP Organisation performs experiments on the staff as well.
