The game begins with the protagonist falling asleep with the TV on at 3am, having caught a glimpse of the commercial for Dr. Pierce's Somnasculpt dream therapy program. When they open their eyes, they find themselves already dreaming, entering the program. As the protagonist, you must explore a dream world where everything is exactly as it appears. You must be careful as the world around you slowly unravels and subverts your expectations.

Throughout the game, players are guided by Dr Glenn Pierce and his artificial intelligence assistant. The assistant is attempting to understand how you ended up in the dreamscape, while Dr Pierce is doing his best to help you escape and return home. To make the experience even more immersive and interesting, the developers have included an extensive developer commentary throughout the game so players can learn the secrets and history behind the development.
