France and Belgium are now playable in this real-time tactical wargame, each with its own army compositions and organizational structures. The expansion also adds a new map, Ardennes, centered around Bastogne.

The French military has gone through a number of changes since the early 1950s, experimenting with structures to facilitate rapid battlefield manoeuvre. This has led to the development of the Division Type 1967, but shortages of modern equipment and the expense of the French nuclear deterrent have meant that the mechanized divisions have been created slowly. Despite this, France has been able to form a formidable military force that is tank-heavy and relies on firepower over manoeuvre.

Belgium has also been a reliable and credible NATO ally since 1967. The Belgian army has been equipped with a mix of modern and obsolete equipment, such as Leopard 1(BE) tanks and M75 and AMX-13 Mod 56 APCs. In the 1980s, the army upgraded its APCs and artillery and increased the number of ATGMs, while the Air Force replaced most of its fast jets with modern aircraft.
