About The Count Lucanor Game

Count Lucanor is a pixel adventure game inspired by classic titles such as Zelda and Silent Hill. Players will explore a mysterious world filled with puzzles, secrets and surprises as they unravel the story and make their way to the exciting conclusion.

Hans was a poor boy who lived with his mother near the woods. On his birthday, he didn't receive any presents or sweets, so he decided to leave home and set out on an adventure. His mother gave him his grandfather's cane, a cheese and three pieces of gold before he left.

As he was walking through the forest, night fell and scared Hans, so he tried to turn back. That's when he encountered a kobold who told him that if he passed a simple trial of guessing his name, he would be rewarded with great wealth. The kobold led Hans to a castle, which was full of secrets and surprises.

Hans was now trapped in the castle, so he began his spooky adventure to become the new Count Lucanor. As he explored the Tenebre Castle, he had to light up his path by placing candles on the ground. He talked to the NPCs to get important clues and unravel the mystery of the Count Lucanor, while also having to hide under tables and behind curtains to go undetected. Hans had to use the items he found wisely in order to progress, while also avoiding traps and enemies in the castle by anticipating them.

The game features important choices, alternative endings, secrets and different ways to solve puzzles. It has a retro, halfway-between-8-and-16-bit style, inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda, Yume Nikki, Silent Hill or Dark Souls, among others. The soundtrack was created by the great Johann Sebastian Bach, using chiptune tools to create unique soundscapes for the tale. The Count Lucanor is currently in development for PC, Mac and Linux.
