In the future, giant city-states have been created and divided by impenetrable barriers. Human labor is mostly found in the form of mechanics, programmers, and operators, as machines have begun to take over most other professions.

The future looks vastly different from the world we know today. Technology has advanced to a point beyond our imaginations, and the planet is now divided into giant city-states, separated from one another by indestructible barriers. Most of the traditional professions have been taken over by machines, leaving people to mainly work as mechanics, programmers and operators.

The recent war has brought with it the Split indestructible shield system, created by engineers from Epsilon Energy. This system was designed to protect the individual cities from armed conflicts, each with its own set of rules and regulations for its citizens. West Ulrage, for example, assigns each citizen a guardian robot at birth. Hal’Tor assigns pairs of robots to raise several children each, while in Dievez people are raised in large centers.

Split is a first-person puzzle game that combines elements from many different puzzle games, and takes them to a whole new perspective. The game is set in a futuristic cyberworld, with a design that is heavily inspired by Brutalism - an architectural style popular in the 1970s - and the visual environment from Tron: Legacy.
