The storyline behind SlipDream Resonator is that the game is set in a futuristic setting, in which a machine has been created by Advara Therapeutics that is able to induce a state of consciousness known as ‘SlipDream’, which allows for a person to be fully awake and dreaming at the same time. As part of this mission, the SlipDream Resonator has been created, with simulated levels designed to activate the user's mind and body through false stimulus and a direct link to the cloud-based neural encoder.

The game contains 22 levels, each with its own unique soundtrack and background visuals. There are 5 different difficulty levels, allowing players of all skill levels to have an enjoyable time playing the game. In addition to the levels, there are power-ups which are dispersed throughout the game. These include the Atomic, which destroys all notes at once, the Circle, which engages all nodes at once, the Time, which temporarily slows down time, and the Laser, which destroys all notes in a specific lane.

For those who want to customize their own experience, there is also a Free Play mode available. This mode allows players to adjust various options such as invincibility, slow mo, powerup probability and double speed.
