If the two values are equal, both the player and monster are hit. Players can negate damage by discarding armor or playing a skill or magical item. They can also consume potions and food to increase their health and prevent death. Some monsters have a weakness to specific thematic loot, and players can vanquish them immediately by using the appropriate item.

Traps are scattered throughout the dungeon, and players will need to disarm or bypass them if they want to progress.
