Congratulations! Your name has been pulled in the October labor lottery, and you are to report to the Ministry of Admission at Grestin Border Checkpoint, where you and your family will be provided with a Class-8 apartment in East Grestin.

Welcome to Arstotzka, a post-war communist state. After a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia, the nation has reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin. As the new immigration inspector, your job is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia.

It’s a critical task, for among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. To ensure the safety of Arstotzka, it’s your duty to use the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission’s primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems to decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

You were chosen in the October labor lottery, and were immediately placed at Grestin Border Checkpoint. An apartment was provided for you and your family in East Grestin, a Class-8 dwelling. Now, the task is yours.
