Kenshi is a free-roaming squad-based RPG that allows you to take on the role of a trader, thief, rebel, warlord, adventurer, farmer, slave, or even food for cannibals. They can also train their men up from victims to master warriors, and carry their wounded squad mates to safety to ensure their survival. The game features a realistic medical system that affects the gameplay, where characters with wounded legs will limp or crawl and slow the party, and severe injuries can result in amputees that require robotic limb replacements.

Characters can also be set up to take care of micromanagement and run production in the base.
