In Insomnis, a first-person horror game, players take control of Joe Castevet, a man who has just inherited a mysterious mansion. As they explore and solve puzzles, Joe must uncover the secrets of the Castevet mansion in order to progress through the game's terrifying atmosphere.

Joe Castevet is the grandson of a renowned English scientist, Roman Castevet. When Roman passes away, he leaves his manor to Joe, who decides to explore the old residence and uncover its secrets. As he ventures through the haunted mansion, Joe begins to feel as though he is not alone. He must solve a variety of puzzles, both digital and analogue, in order to advance and uncover the truth.

The atmosphere of Insomnis is dark and tense, filled with scares and suspense. Joe will experience his worst nightmares come to life as the environment of the manor changes around him. While exploring, Joe will also come across morally ambiguous situations, where his decisions will affect the outcome of the game.
