The game begins with an unprovoked attack on House Furukawa, a minor noble house. Aya, the youngest daughter of House Furukawa, must navigate the crumbling alliances and questionable decisions of her family as the war continues. Players must lead the remaining loyal soldiers of House Furukawa and fight for a victory, whatever it may be.

Players will have the chance to train their human troops in 20 unique character classes while recruiting wolves, fairies, the undead, and their own mechanical creations. Each of these have their own character classes and can be equipped with hundreds of different items in limitless combinations. Players can also craft powerful weapons to give their troops an edge in battle. Players can organize their troops into lances, relying on their captains’ leadership abilities and the affinities of their troops to maximize their effectiveness in battle. All of these tactics will be used to battle enemies in tactical turn-based combat involving hundreds of unique characters on each side.

As players travel across the huge world, they will be able to discover forests, deserts, caves, mountains, and the dangerous Shadowlands. Throughout the journey, players will meet unique and diverse characters who may help them on their way or cause them harm.

The included campaign editor allows players to make an infinite number of stories. With the powerful Kismet visual scripting tool, players can set up their own campaigns without having to write a single line of code. Advanced modders can also use Himeko Sutori as the base for their game development and share their campaigns with others.
