If the player sprints, the Echoes become faster. If they use stealth, the Echoes become stealthier. Even their ability to shoot back is determined by the player's choices. The Palace operates on a cycle of blackouts, during which it "reboots." This blackout-cycle is when the Echoes are updated with the player's latest behavior, learning and unlearning from their actions. During these blackouts, the Palace is temporarily blind, granting players the freedom to act without consequences. This is the perfect opportunity to engage in high-speed combat and other actions that players do not want the Echoes to learn. The experience of ECHO is centered around the player's choices from the previous blackout-cycle, enabling them to shape the game from one cycle to the next.
