DEAD RISING® is an action horror game developed and published by Capcom. The game follows the story of Frank West, a hard-edged photojournalist who finds himself in the midst of a zombie outbreak at the Willamette Mall. With only 72 hours to uncover the truth behind the epidemic, Frank must fight off hordes of zombies and survive in this retail hell.

As Frank West, players will explore the expansive indoor and outdoor areas of the mall, which provide a variety of different locations to explore. The mall serves as both a sanctuary and a danger zone, as Frank battles the endless waves of zombies that roam its halls. The game uses a dynamic real-time system, where time continues to pass whether Frank is actively engaged or remains stationary.

During the day, zombies move slowly, but as the sun sets, they become stronger and faster, making it even more challenging to survive. The swarms of zombies are diverse, with each former human retaining some memory of their previous lives, reflected in their behavior and appearance.

One of the unique features of DEAD RISING® is the ability to utilize anything in the mall as a weapon. Frank can pick up and use various objects like golf clubs, lawnmowers, and fry pans to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. Environmental objects like table umbrellas and mall benches can also be used to his advantage.

In addition to weapons, Frank can also replenish his health by consuming various "mall food" items. These food items can be found throughout the mall and provide a much-needed boost to his health.

The game also features a real-time system where key story elements occur at specific times, whether Frank is present or not. It is crucial not to miss any important events or opportunities as they can provide valuable clues to the mystery behind the outbreak.
