Welcome to the world of Contraband Police, a game set in the 1980s where you take on the duties of a border guard inspector in a communist country of the Acarist People’s Republic. This game is not for the faint of heart as you will face off against rampant smuggling, corruption, and forgery as you strive to earn the respect of your superiors.

The game is set in 1981 and you start off as an officer trainee assigned to work at a border post in Karikatka. Your every move is monitored as the entry into the Acarist People’s Republic is strictly regulated by the party. Things become more intense when your comrade is killed during one of the interventions.

As a border guard, you will need to be vigilant and proficient at document control. Every visitor must have a set of valid documents and any discrepancy will mean refusal of entry. Over time, the number of documents will increase and errors will be more difficult to detect. Additionally, intelligence regularly provides information about suspicious drivers and it is your job to search their vehicles using a UV flashlight and then use the appropriate tools to extract any smuggled goods.

In some situations, you will be forced to use firearms to protect yourself and your station from Oberankov’s gang attacks. You will also be able to upgrade your police cars to increase the effectiveness of police chases when smugglers attempt to escape from the control zone. You can also upgrade your police station to increase its defenses and improve subsequent inspections, but be aware of the rising cost of maintaining your station.

Special assignments will also come up and require you to solve crime puzzles, support your comrades, and thwart the Blood Fist rebels. Your decisions will have a direct impact on the future of Acaristan and can make or break the entire country.
