Crafting and enchanting is also a big part of the game. You can create your own equipment and specialize how you please: battle, politics, research, and more. You can even craft potions in your mage tower workshop to assist you with your goals, or sell them at a profit.

Archmage Rises is inspired by Raistlin Majere of Dragonlance, and fans of the series will find much to enjoy. The game also features procedural world generation, with every game generating a new world with dozens of towns, thousands of NPCs, a unique history, treasures, items, historical characters, and monster lairs.

The world also progresses and ages with or without your involvement. Kingdoms rise and fall, towns grow or shrink, monster threats grow and expand. You can watch young NPCs grow, marry, bear children, and eventually die, all in one player lifetime.

Choice, consequence, and emergent story are all integral to Archmage Rises. As the world simulates along, every NPC interaction is factored into it. If you kill the innkeeper, the inn will close, and his family will hate you. If you indiscriminately divorce an NPC, they may send thugs after you out of scorn.

Finally, the game features a realistic supply-demand economy. Towns have primary businesses which consume goods and produce others. Goods travel along road systems through AI traders, and bandits can interrupt supply runs, leading to your favorite brew no longer being available in the local tavern. You can get involved in trading and starting new businesses, or ignore it entirely.
