The game takes place in Gentlheim, a village that has been invaded by Lord Z. The village is surrounded by five extraplanar towers and dungeons filled with evil creatures. As the warrior mage Ampersat, it is your mission to venture deep into the dungeons and treacherous towers, defeat minions, and restore language to Gentlheim. By doing so, you will enable the townsfolk to communicate properly and help you defeat Lord Z himself.

Ampersat features over 50 handcrafted levels, many of which offer exploration and light puzzles. Players can choose to tackle these levels in any order they prefer, allowing for a non-linear gameplay experience. In addition, there is an optional endless procedural area for those who enjoy the challenge of randomly generated levels.
