Tower Hunter: Erza's Trial is a roguelite game presented in a toon render style in which the player takes on the role of Erza, exploring a mysterious tower and battling mutant monsters and bosses to obtain a Hunter’s License and become the most powerful Battle Maiden.

Tower Hunter: Erza’s Trial is a unique 2.5D side-scroller action-adventure game set in a mysterious tower. Players take on the role of Erza, a brave Battle Maiden who must battle her way up the tower to acquire a Hunter’s License. The game features a roguelite-style exploration with randomly generated modules, as well as smooth controls, special weapon skills, hidden elements, and a licence system.

Players will have to make use of the limited supplies available, and make the best use of the special rune core system. They must use footsie and dodge skills to outmaneuver their opponents and attack with the combination of light and heavy blows. The player’s progress is not saved, so they must start from the beginning each time they die. However, they can accumulate a certain proportion of resources throughout each adventure which can be used to acquire more skills and progress further.

The main goal of the game is to acquire a Hunter’s License, which will grant Erza a certain level of status and power. After defeating bosses, cards appear that can be used to acquire these licences. Players must also explore hidden passages, some of which can be destroyed, and others which must be opened with a corresponding colour key.
