On that day, these creatures had brought an abrupt end to mankind’s connections and communications, devouring all of the radio waves that had once been used to keep us in touch with the outside world.

The cause of this strange phenomenon had been the creation of a new form of technology, a worldwide wireless network that covered the entire globe. The artificial pigeons had been designed to carry the radio waves, but something had gone wrong and they had instead begun to consume them.

As a result, air travel had become impossible and all information sent through radio waves had been blocked. It seemed as though mankind had lost its connection with the sky forever.

But then, one day, a young tinkerer named Yamanashi Sora decided to take matters into his own hands. Using spare parts, he constructed a new kind of radio, one that was capable of receiving broadcasts from the future.

On the day of the broadcast, Sora stepped into the former gateway to Japan, the Nariyama International Airport. It had been abandoned for many years, and all that remained of the once great structure was a nest of countless artificial pigeons. There, he encountered a silver-haired maiden, who looked straight at him and gently stroked an artificial pigeon with her finger.

“You won’t die,” she told him.

Sora was dumbfounded. But then, he realized that the mysterious broadcast that he had heard only the day prior had been warning him of his impending death.
