Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition is a strategy game that includes the base game, Sword of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter, and its first expansion, The End of Flesh. The Enhanced Edition also introduces a new playable race called the Loa and includes all previous downloadable content (DLC) such as new avatars, combat music, alternate voices, skins, and warship badges.

In Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition, players have the opportunity to customize their own starships, build their fleet, and explore the vast expanse of the galaxy. The Enhanced Edition also includes over 120 new ship sections specifically designed for the Loa race, as well as a unique drive system called the Neutrino Pulse Gate. Additionally, there are more than 25 additional technologies to research, including a new Cybernetic Tech Tree. Players can take advantage of 10 new weapons and attacks in battle, and there are new ship sections available for the original six factions, including two new Leviathan class vessels.

In addition to the new playable race, the Enhanced Edition introduces two new independent races for players to encounter, study, and potentially incorporate into their empires. The game also features new random encounters, a new Grand Menace, and new star maps to explore. There is a new Evacuation Mission and a Supplemental Mission system that allows players to focus on either the target or the fleet.
