About SpaceEngine Game
Explore the entire Universe in photorealistic 3D with SpaceEngine, featuring billions of galaxies, stars, planets, and more, all at their full real-world scale.
SpaceEngine is a revolutionary science-based Universe simulator that allows players to explore billions upon billions of galaxies, stars, planets, and other celestial objects. The game is designed using procedural generation, which means that uncharted areas of the Universe are also modeled and can be explored.
The game features a photorealistic interactive 3D planetarium that allows players to explore Earth and other neighboring planets in the Solar System. Players can also orbit black holes in galaxies that are billions of light-years away or visit anything in between seamlessly, without any transitions.
One of the most exciting features of SpaceEngine is that all of time and space are yours to explore. Players can cruise between the stars at a million times the speed of light and accelerate time to watch the orbital motions of a thousand worlds play out before their eyes. Every planet encountered in the journey features procedural 3D terrain with detailed textures, making the experience even more immersive.
The game also allows players to explore everything in the sky, including stars and galaxies, planets and moons, asteroids and comets, black holes and neutron stars, star clusters and nebulae, all at the press of a button. The spacecraft in the game is designed with Newtonian physics and pilot-assist autopilot features that are still in early development but fully usable.
SpaceEngine is also very friendly for creators of mods and add-ons. Players can create their own planets, star systems, even galaxies, import their spacecraft models, create custom GUI skins, and more. All these can be easily shared with others, making the game experience even more personalized.
The game's planetarium capabilities are impressive. All types of celestial objects are represented, including galaxies, nebulae, stars and star clusters, planets and moons, comets and asteroids. Known celestial objects are represented using data from catalogs, while regions of space not yet cataloged feature procedurally generated objects.
Moving through space is easy, with players free to move around the universe seamlessly. They can travel between any object and any distance, from surface to orbit to interstellar and intergalactic space. Time travel is also possible, allowing players to accelerate, decelerate, or reverse the flow of time, and jump to a specified date.
The graphics in SpaceEngine are stunning, with volumetric 3D models of galaxies and nebulae with interstellar dust clouds, and 3D landscapes on planets and stars. For many Solar System bodies, actual data from space probes is used, with huge, high-resolution texture packs available as free DLC. For unmapped and procedural planets, the surface is generated procedurally using the computer's GPU. Other features include realistic atmospheric scattering, eclipse shadows, animated auroras and comet tails, and physically-based light warping near black holes and neutron stars, with animated accretion disks and jets.
The physics in SpaceEngine is realistic and physically-based. The game features the realistic and physically-based generation of procedural objects such as galaxies, star systems, and planets, and their physical properties such as mass, radius, temperature, atmospheric parameters, etc. The orbital motion of planets, moons, and stars in multiple-star systems is accurately calculated and displayed. Realistic spaceship design concepts and physics are also featured, including orbital motion, atmospheric flight model, and Alcubierre warp drive physics.
Virtual reality is supported in SpaceEngine, with the game supporting Oculus via native library and SteamVR for HTC Vive, Valve Index, WMR, and other headsets. Support for VR controllers is partial, allowing players to select objects with one controller and move around with the other. However, VR support is still a work in progress, and new users should become familiar with the program in 2D before trying to use VR.
The game features original background music tracks made by many authors, with context-sensitive playback. Sound effects for planetary environments and spaceships are still in development.
SpaceEngine is also designed with built-in tutorials that help players start using the Planetarium. Players can search for celestial objects by name and search for the nearest star systems. They can also browse the cosmos using a scalable Universe map and planetary system chart. Saving, exporting, and importing of locations are supported, which can easily be shared between users. The program keeps an automatic journal of objects players have recently visited. Players can learn every detail about the objects they find using the built-in “Wiki” info system, with additional hand-written descriptions of many known objects. They can also display the orbital paths of celestial objects, labels and markers, constellations, and other informational tools.
SpaceEngine is currently available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish, Croatian, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Catalan, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages. Many new localizations are under development, with only localizations that are 100% complete displayed on the store page.
Finally, SpaceEngine supports creating and importing user add-ons such as catalogs, models, and textures for deep space objects, planets, and spaceships. Spacecraft models, representing both real and fictional designs, including popular sci-fi franchises, are commonly imported and shared by the community.
In conclusion, SpaceEngine offers an unparalleled experience for players who want to explore the Universe in a realistic and immersive way. With its stunning graphics, realistic physics, and user-friendly interface, the game offers endless possibilities for exploration and customization.
