The isometric construction mode is inspired by the most classic strategy games. It is a grid-based map that requires you to think through each change of traffic layout. You can build simple tracks connecting two stations or complex networks using junctions and signals for maximum efficiency.

As the game progresses, you must expand and customize your transport empire. You can upgrade industry buildings, stations, and depots in many ways, and enhance your trains with new engines or special wagons. Every upgrade offers a unique bonus such as a higher capacity or different processing rules.

You can switch to a 3D viewing mode anytime to explore the magnificent landscapes. You can ride one of your trains and watch the operation of your network. Exiting construction mode also allows you to jump into one of your trains and enjoy the ride.

At the moment, five eras are available in the Early Access release, with more eras to come. You will progress from the Age of Steam to the modern world, and eventually the future. You will find new industries and vehicles in each era, and villages will grow into cities. It is your job to figure out how to best use these new features to build your transport empire. Eventually, you will have a vast network of trains that can deliver anything from coal and wood to futuristic electronics.
