Detective Todd is investigating the mysterious death of Emma, the actress girlfriend of scientist Albert. Emma's body appears out of nowhere in multiple time and space dimensions, leading Todd down a surreal adventure in the search for answers. He must unravel the clues to uncover the truth behind her mysterious death.

LIQUID is an adventure game developed by Automaticgrasshopper and published by East2West Games. Set in a dystopian world where energy shortage is rampant, the game follows the story of police detective Todd as he investigates a strange murder case.

The story begins when Emma, the actress girlfriend of scientist Albert, dies mysteriously. All that is left at the scene is her body and a pool of blood. Todd begins to investigate and soon discovers that the clues and metaphors are hidden in the fragmented details. To restore the full picture of the story, it is up to the player to make the right choices.

The game is set in a world where a military, government and religion have become one after the Day of Revelation. Albert has invented a machine called the “Prometheus”, which is capable of converting anything into liquid energy. Public opinion is concerned that the machine will disrupt the existing power structure, and those at the bottom of the social pyramid may be reduced to the liquid feed of the machine.

It is rumoured that the raw material of the machine is the human brain, and that it is the brainwashing tool of Bishop Jones of the Temple. At the same time, Emma’s death brings about more questions than answers. Some believe that she was a victim of Albert’s experiments, while others suspect it was a love affair or suicide. What is the connection between these two events?

The game is non-linear, and the length of the game is expected to be similar to the length of a movie. Players need to use their own intuition, experience, wisdom and reasoning to think through the puzzles. Multiple playthroughs are encouraged as the player will be able to uncover new details and have a better understanding of the story each time.
