Alesta, a courageous sorceress, embarks on a thrilling and perilous journey through dark forests and mysterious paths in search of the lost road to Nav, the world of the dead. Along the way, she will experience a unique combination of Slavic myths and fairy tales in the metroidvania-style game Catmaze.

Catmaze is a captivating metroidvania game that was inspired by the age-old tales of Slavic myths. Players will take the role of Alesta, a brave sorceress, who embarks on an unforgettable journey to search for the lost road to Nav, the world of the dead. As she navigates through mysterious paths, dark forests and magical creatures, she will come to understand the secrets of the world.

Cats have been regarded as the link between the world of Yav and Nav for centuries, and for this knowledge they were gifted nine lives. In Catmaze, one of these cats, Cat Bayn, will make an exception and change the balance on behalf of Alesta’s mother. Along the journey, the player will come across various mythical creatures, such as boggart, kikimora, anchutkas, and mermaids.

The world of Catmaze is filled with a variety of locations, such as gloomy marshes, Slavic villages, and centuries-old forests. To help Alesta in her battles with dangerous mythical beasts, she will be able to summon familiars, which are creatures that have served sorcerers since ancient times. Each of these familiars will possess unique abilities, allowing for a variety of strategies for the player to choose.

Besides combat, players can also complete a number of side quests, which will ultimately decide how the adventure will end. As a classic metroidvania game, Catmaze allows players to return to previously visited locations to unlock hidden paths and gain new skills. Exciting boss battles with powerful creatures from Slavic tales will also be available.

Role-playing elements are also present in the game, offering players the opportunity to customize Alesta’s characteristics to their individual playing style. Catmaze was developed by Slava Gris, combining his art and programming skills to bring to life this incredible adventure. The soundtrack was provided by Expecte Amour.
