The gameplay revolves around smashing pumpkins to uncover hidden candy. As players progress through the game, they must stomp on pumpkins while avoiding enemies roaming around the levels. Whenever a pumpkin is smashed, delicious candy pops out, which players must collect to gain power. Once they have gathered three pieces of candy, they unleash their Sweet Revenge mode, where they become turbo-charged with sugar and can confront the Pumpking himself.

During Sweet Revenge mode, players must relentlessly bash the Pumpking until he explodes, defeating him and reclaiming the stolen candy. However, players must be strategic and take advantage of opportunities to attack the Pumpking even when not in Sweet Revenge mode. By doing so, they force him to release more pumpkins, increasing their chances of finding extra candy.

The game features four unique levels, each presenting its own challenges and obstacles. Players can enjoy Candy Creeps in both single-player and two-player modes, allowing for cooperative gameplay with a friend. In the two-player mode, each player requires a controller to participate.

Controlling the characters is simple and intuitive. Players can move Elma and Harper using a joystick or gamepad, climb ladders to reach different platforms, and jump to avoid enemies and obstacles. To drop down to a lower level, players must hold down on the stick or pad and press the Jump button.

Their mischievous acts were harmless, such as egging houses with cage-free eggs and using extra-soft toilet paper for tree decorations. They believed that if their neighbors didn't want to receive these treats, they shouldn't give out undesirable items like raisins or dental floss. Therefore, it came as a shock to these considerate fourth-graders when the Pumpking targeted them and took away their entire candy haul, even snatching the coveted full-size candy bars.

Now, armed with nothing but their wit, the power of sugar, and a few sharp knives, Elma and Harper are determined to reclaim their hard-earned sweet treats. They embark on a thrilling adventure, navigating through challenging levels, defeating enemies, and ultimately confronting the Pumpking to bring an end to his reign of terror.
