AI War 2: The Neinzul Abyss is an upcoming DLC for the popular indie strategy game AI War 2. The DLC promises to introduce players to a new and formidable enemy: the Neinzul. These insectoid creatures are not new to the game, but players have never faced their full might until now. The Neinzul Abyss expansion will bring new challenges and gameplay options to the table, including a new player type: the Necromancer.

The Necromancer is a mobile fleet that feeds on the living from other universes. Players who choose to play as the Necromancer will have the ability to capture enemy guard posts, create skeletons and wights out of enemy ships, and quest against the Templars and the Neinzul Elderlings. This new player type was developed over an entire year, and according to most testers, it's their new favorite way to experience the game.

The focus of the Neinzul Abyss DLC is on the Neinzul and their unique civilization. Players will interact with them through six new minor factions, including the fractured roaming enclaves, the ever-roaming migrants, and the terrifying and eldritch Elderlings. Each minor faction is unique, and players will have to learn how to deal with them on a case-by-case basis.

If the minor factions aren't of interest, players can instead choose to play as the Necromancer faction. This new player type introduces a completely new way to play the game. Necromancers don't have command stations; instead, they have Necropoleis, which have a modular build system. The Necromancer also has a new resource called Essence, which they can use to swap the Phylactery's location with another Necropolis. Hexes can be devoted to various buildings, such as defensive totems, flagship-supporting unit-homes, or shipyards.

The Necromancer is Evil with a capital E. This translates to getting the Science, Hacking, and Essence resources by murdering and killing specific units in combat, rather than just gathering it passively at planets you capture. The Templars are the main opposition to the Necromancer. They are immune to being corrupted by the Necromancer and will routinely launch Crusades against the Necromancer. Templars are the main source of science and hacking points.

The Neinzul Sappers are part of a Neinzul hive mind that has been able to integrate themselves swiftly into the players' ranks. They are willing and able to assist the players in their resistance against the AI. The Neinzul Custodians are the result of a Neinzul hive mind that has refused to divide itself. In their prime, the Neinzul Custodians were a part of a grand Neinzul empire that spanned many stars, all under a single hive mind. The Neinzul Migrants are a new faction that players can choose to help or leave to distract the AI. The Neinzul Wild Hives are animalistic forces that have refused any and all communication attempts and have begun seizing and infesting all metal-rich asteroids they come across.

The Neinzul Abyss DLC promises new ships, mechanics, and buildings to spice up the game even more. The DLC is set to release on April 22, 2022, and is developed and published by Arcen Games, LLC.
