Age of Fear: The Undead King GOLD is a strategy game that lets players choose between two sides - Sir Edward, a noble Knight defending the Human Kingdom, and Krill, a wicked Necromancer with an unearthly lust for power. This greatly expanded version of the series' first entry features an open world, global events, faction bases, new units, and more.

Age of Fear: The Undead King GOLD is a greatly expanded version of the original game and is the result of almost seven years of work. It features hex-free battles, an open world, global events, faction bases, new units, and more. Players can choose to play as Sir Edward, a noble Knight defending the Human Kingdom, or Krill, a wicked Necromancer with an unearthly lust for power.

The game features six factions with its own unique lore and units, over 200 different units, and nearly 800 unique spells, abilities and items. Multiple cinematic battles and legendary landmarks have been added to better introduce the player to the AOF universe. The engine has been reworked and graphics improved, and the AI enhanced further.

The game also offers a sandbox layer with procedurally generated battles, shops and themed factions' bases. It allows players to take side-quests, invest in base upgrades and recruit mercenaries from multiple races and factions. Players must manage alignments such as Evil and Holy, as units from opposite sides won’t like each other and may desert.

The game also has an extended story including sub-quests, optional events and alternative endings, as well as an array of jokes to keep players entertained. The party customization allows players to build and upgrade a custom army with unique units, skills and spells. The battle mechanics require strategic thinking and the AI offers challenging battles.
